This movie would be my favourite movie by far till this date. As you probably realized I am a big fan of action movies, and take a special interest in martial art movies. Some martial movies as you know it don’t have much story-line, and just fight scene after fight scene. This is all O.K. for me but may be boring for people who do not take interest in martial arts.

What made this movie so different, and it being my favourite is that this movie has an excellent storyline, and extremely well constructed and acted out. Whilst most of the action movies focus too much on the action, and seem to “forget” about the storyline, IP man is much different, and all its scenes have a specific purpose and tells a great deal about the late Grandmaster Ip Man.

The movie is based on true story, with the commentary and consultancy of Ip Man’s son, Ip Chun.

I feel that it is the best performance yet by Donnie Yen (甄子丹) and I feel that he was extremely successful at portraying Ip Man. The movie is intense, without any “boring” moments. There are also funny parts in the movie which relaxes the tension from all the action.

The special effects and cinematography don’t go too farfetched (most movies do nowadays) and achieves a really nice balance, which satisfies the audience and keeps the storyline extremely “real”.

In conclusion, it is a must watch movie of the year, even if you are not a big fan of action, I am positive that you will thoroughly enjoy the great storyline of this movie!
