Swiss Ball as Office-Chair Replacement Part 2…

Now after sitting on the swiss ball for around about 8 hours a day, for roughly a week’s time, I have to say that no miracles occurred and I don’t suddenly have a stronger body and an 8 pack (I wish that did happen though). However, I do feel the slight improvement in my sitting posture, as the swiss ball does not have back support, there’s nothing to ‘lean’ on, therefore your body is constantly reminding you to sit up straighter otherwise it is actually quite unconfortable and also much harder to balance.

The neat thing about sitting on the swiss ball though is that you can occasionally do several easy but extremely good stretches which does help keeping the body refreshed and feeling good during a long day at the office. I occasionally find myself doing several balancing and easy core (ab) exercises when I am taking a small break from work, just to help keep the body awake and revitalized.

I think the biggest benefit about sitting on the swiss ball is that you can exercise while you work. Although it is not intense exercise and should not be replaced with your daily routine of going to the gym, it is much better than sitting all day in your office chair – slouching.

So the conclusion is, from my personal experience, I recommend sitting on a swiss ball @ the office as I feel it keeps the body active and prevents slouching and bad posture to a certain degree. I hope I am not as annoying as this guy though!

    Good for people to know.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting this.
it’s almost a year since you begun using the Swiss ball as an office chair.
I’m wondering how it’s going? Are you still using it? Have you seen any benefits and/or problems with it’s long-term, habitual use?

I spend long sessions in an office chair and will be trying my Swiss ball, but I’ve read some info that is not all good.

    Thank you.
